ABOUT THIS BLOG
I began this blog as means to share some of the inspiration, beauty, poetry, art and wisdom that has been shared with me. A place to express myself. A place share thoughts and ideas. A place to connect with others who share similar passions.
Essentially, I wanted to create a space that would allow me to express my passions and connect with the world.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I’m a self-proclaimed yoga junkie and photography addict with a bad case of wanderlust. I suppose you could call me a “seeker” – and this has taken me around the world in search of adventure, spirituality and ultimately myself. I am on a spiritual path. A journey of self discovery and it’s been an extraordinary experience.
ABOUT MY JOURNEY:
My first life-changing event began in Central America. While sitting in a hotel room in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in 2004 I watched the Boxing Day Tsunami devastate Thailand on BBC World News. I will remember this moment for the rest of my life. Having traveled to Thailand many times before, seeing a country I love so much suffer broke my heart.
This sparked a monumental decision in my life. After returning home from Honduras I packed up my apartment and set off to Thailand for what I thought would be a few months of volunteer work.
After a few months working in disaster zones, schools and refugee camps, I couldn’t leave this incredible country. It changed me. Thailand had become a part of me and my mind was made up … I was staying.
I moved on to complete my T.E.F.L. Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and worked in an amazing private school teaching kindergarten. I feel so blessed to have had the chance to call this incredible country home.
After two years, I returned home to Vancouver. Although my home base was now in North America, my heart was still yearning to explore.
Since returning from Thailand I traveled to Indonesia to work as a photographer for the Bali Spirit Festival, swam with majestic whale sharks & spent an afternoon with a witch doctor in Tanzania and most recently, studied yoga on the west coast of Nicaragua.
The insatiable need to travel is etched into my DNA.
I love the freedom of traveling solo.
The indescribable bliss of truly experiencing a culture, getting to know it’s beautiful people and later telling their stories has been the greatest joy of my life.
Over the years I developed a passion for photography and yoga – both of which I practice regularly.
Both crafts have given me exquisite gifts and are intertwined with my love of travel.
